The Hello Cup is a complete game changer when it comes to your period and the most sustainable option when it comes to female sanitation. Designed by a registered nurse with an attention to detail that has resulted in a uniquely smooth surface and a reputation of being the most comfortable menstrual cup on the market. Each cup holds more than your usual tampon, and for much longer too. And rather last just a few hours, each cup is reusable for at least five years, saving you the equivalent of over 2000 single-use tampons or pads.
The Hello Cup S/M is a ‘one size fits most’ menstrual cup. It is recommended for users under 35, regardless of whether they have had children or not, and physically fit people, regardless of age. Though if you’re unsure, scroll down for a size guide, a ‘how-to’ and some FAQs.
The Hello Cup is silicone-free, BPA free with no rubber or latex. It is designed and made in New Zealand from a medical grade, FDA approved, hypoallergenic, thermoplastic elastomer, using certified food grade colours, compliant with EU and FDA standards.
Each Hello Cup comes with instructions and a cotton bag.
What size is best for you?
The Hello Cup comes in three sizes – XS , S/M and L. And while it can be tricky working out what size you are, this info is a good starting point:
The XS cup is the smallest, softest cup. It’s the perfect choice for teenagers, petite users or those who prefer a ‘mini’ tampon. It has a diameter of 38mm, an overall length of 57mm – including the toggle – and it holds 17.5mL (to the holes).
The S/M is a ‘one size fits most’ menstrual cup. It is recommended for users under 35, regardless of whether they have had children or not. It has a diameter of 41mm, an overall length of 59mm – including the toggle – and it holds 21mL (to the holes).
The L is best for those over 35 who feel it’s a bit roomier up there (possibly thanks to pushing out a small human or two). It has a diameter of 45mm, an overall length of 64mm – including the toggle – and it holds 28mL (to the holes). It’s worth noting that physically fit people are often best suited to the S/M cup, regardless of age.

The How-To Guide
You’re not alone if when you saw a menstrual cup for the first time you thought “yikes!” But once you’ve learned how to place it correctly, you’ll forget it’s even there and can enjoy so much more freedom.
Nail the fold: Use a shallow punch-down fold for Hello Cups – ‘shallow’ as in don’t go below the letters on the side of the cup. Once you’ve nailed this, insert your cup. Once it pops open, give it a gentle tug to help it form a seal and you’re good to go. If it’s in correctly and is the right size, you shouldn’t get any leakage. Here’s a super quick video you can come back to at any time.
How do you know when a menstrual cup is full? You can leave menstrual cups in for up to 12 hours on light days, while on heavier days, you might need to empty it every 3 or 4 hours.
How do you remove a menstrual cup? To remove your cup, feel for the base of the cup and give it a gentle squeeze – this helps to break the seal – then just pull down slowly. Once it’s out, simply tip the contents out in the toilet, rinse (or wipe if there’s no tap handy) and reinsert. Simple!
How do you clean a menstrual cup? When your period has finished, sterilise your cup by either by boiling it in water on the stove for 3 minutes – just avoid letting the cup touch the bottom of the pot. Or you can use a sterilisation tablet – about a 1/4 of a tablet in a glass of water.
